Hi, and welcome to The Sandwiched Club! We’re a couple navigating the complex reality of being parents to two young children and caregivers to four elderly parents. For the sake of our family’s privacy, we’ve decided to remain anonymous here, but you will know us as the “ingredients” of our sandwich. Our children and parents, the core of our lives, are our beloved slices of bread—each with their own unique flavor.
What We Plan to Share
Our journey has been marked by both joys and challenges, from parenting a child with ADHD to caring for a parent with dementia. We’ve come to realise that the resources available for families like ours are often incomplete, particularly when it comes to edge cases that don’t fit the mould. Too many times, we’ve found ourselves facing situations that online guides or government/organisation processes just don’t cover.
We’ve decided to document our experiences—not as experts, but as fellow parents and caregivers who’ve stumbled, learned, and grown along the way. Our hope is that by sharing what we’ve encountered, we can help others who might be walking a similar path.
Why It’s Important to Share
We believe that no one should feel lost or isolated in their journey through ADHD, dementia, or any of life’s unexpected challenges. Our story is unique, but it echoes the experiences of many others who, like us, find themselves sandwiched between the needs of children and aging parents. We hope to be a source of comfort, insight, and maybe even a few laughs.
